The population of Canada West
The population of Canada West in 1851 was 952,004; it was the most populated colony in BNA (37.6%). The total population in BNA was 2,532,097. 63% of the population in Canada West was British 28% was French and 9% was First Nations and other small colonies. Even though there were still other colonies everything was done the way the British wanted, just because there are more of them. The French only had their religion and culture to keep. The First Nations had nothing, they were eventually pushed out of Upper Canada in 1868 one year after the act of confederation.

The Inhabitants of Canada West and what they think about joining the Confederation.
When the Aboriginals joined the Confederation they didn't get the same rights and respect as everyone else. They were afraid this would happen once they joined the Confederation, this made them hesitant to join the Confederation. On the other hand they knew that if they didn't join, the British would wipe them out with ease because they were such a small group of people. They were forced to sign the agreement for the Confederation. The Aboriginals were one of the smallest groups in Canada West; the british were the largest.
